In 1950 Jack Lamar Wood married Betty Smith 
They had two daughters, Jackie Pearl Wood and Paula Jean Wood. 
Betty was born August 29, 1931 she died April 22, 1981. Jack was born in 1925 
and died 1966. After moving from the Atlanta area Betty lived around the 
Atlanta airport area in College Park, Georgia lived with their grandparents 
Lawton and Edna Smith. Her daughters  grew up there with their Smith uncles 
and aunts but were more like sisters. They would grow up rich in pride and 
purpose just as their Wood and Smith ancestors whom they descend from.

Jack Wood was born July 14, 1925 and died August 1966 Fulton County Georgia. He was 
a CPL in the US Marine Corps in WWII 1941-1945. On June 6, 1945 he was Wounded In Action 
and was awarded the Purple Heart and is named in the Purple Heart Hall of Honor. Jack 
was employed at the Yellow Trucking company in Atlanta.

is usually borne by settlers who came from England to Ireland and Wales. In the 17th 
Century Irish families were compelled to change their Gaelic name of Coill to Wood. From
